Interflug Ilyushin IL-18

The Interflug IL-18 is a civil aviation classic – both in its original form and as a collector's model. Twenty years ago, it was already part of the Herpa Collection in the 1/500 scale. So it was high time to produce a new edition with a new registration number. DM-STE was first put into service in 1962 by the air force of the German Democratic Republic before being handed over to Interflug in 1964. It was not decommissioned until 1989 and is today on display at the Hans Grade Museum in Borkheide, Brandenburg. The IL-18 houses an exhibition on the life of aviator and aircraft designer Hans Grade, who made the first powered flight in Germany in 1908 with a self-built triplane.
