This Qantas 787 features a stunning livery based on the painting Yam Dreaming by the late Aboriginal artist Emily Kame Kngwarreye. The Dreamliner has also been named after the acclaimed Anmatyerre woman, who was born in 1910 and produced more than 3000 works over her life. With its mesmerizing swirls and rich reds and ochres, the artwork represents the yam plant, a culturally important Dreaming symbol and food source in Kngwarreye’s homeland of Utopia, north-east of Alice Springs. This Boeing 787 Dreamliner was the fifth Indigenous Flying Art aircraft in the Qantas fleet. A team of more than 60 graphic designers, engineers and painters at Boeing’s Seattle facility worked with Indigenous owned design studio Balarinji to adapt and install Emily’s "Yam Dreaming" artwork design onto the aircraft, taking more than ten days to complete. Alongside "Emily Kame Kngwarreye", the Qantas Group currently has two other Flying Art aircraft in service: Boeing 737-800 "Mendoowoorrji" and Airbus A220 "Minyma Kutjara Tjukurpa". A display stand is included. ,This Qantas 787 features a stunning livery based on the painting Yam Dreaming by the late Aboriginal artist Emily Kame Kngwarreye.
