US Air Force Lockheed C-5A Galaxy

The impressive aircraft was originally delivered by Lockheed in 1971 and began service at Dover Air Force Base in 1973. The following year, the US Air Force conducted a unique test when this C-5A launched a Minuteman intercontinental ballistic missile in flight. It later served for several years with the Tennessee Air National Guard and was deployed on missions around the globe. Four decades after entering service, the aircraft was finally retired in 2013 and can now be admired as the largest exhibit at the Air Mobility Command Museum, also located in Dover, Delaware.
